LOCTITE® 586 is a red, high-strength thread sealant for locking and sealing metal pipes and fittings. The product’s slow-cure properties are particularly suited to copper and brass fittings – substrates which can cause traditional anaerobic sealants to cure before the fittings are fully engaged. This medium-viscosity dimethacrylate ester acrylic liquid cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting surfaces. When cured, it provides a high-pressure seal to prevent leaks of water, oil and most common organic materials. It fluoresces under UV light – great for quality control – and will not creep, shrink or clog piping systems by shredding.
